Hello, and welcome to the Pennywood Event Services Blog!
If you're reading this, you might be planning a virtual event, preparing for a speaking engagement, or getting ready to say "I do." Whatever brought you here, we're grateful you've stopped by. This space is where we'll be sharing insights, tips, and stories from the world of virtual hosting, public speaking, and wedding officiations; the three pillars of what we do at Pennywood.
Why We Started Pennywood
The story of Pennywood Event Services began with a simple observation: so many important moments were falling flat because of technical hiccups, awkward transitions, or the overwhelming stress of managing both content and logistics simultaneously.
We watched coaches struggle to moderate their own workshops while trying to teach. We saw nonprofit leaders lose engagement because they were juggling too many browser tabs during critical fundraising events. We witnessed couples navigating the already-emotional experience of wedding planning while also worrying about whether their officiant truly understood what mattered to them.
That's when it became clear—people needed someone in their corner. Someone who could handle the behind-the-scenes details so they could focus on what actually mattered: connecting with their audience, delivering their message, or celebrating their love story. That's why we created Pennywood Event Services.
What "Hosting Moments That Matter" Really Means
The tagline you see on our website—"Hosting Moments That Matter"—isn't just catchy marketing speak. It's the heart of everything we do
.
Whether it's a high-stakes deposition on Zoom, a keynote speech about overcoming burnout, or an intimate backyard wedding ceremony, these moments matter deeply to the people experiencing them. They deserve to be handled with professionalism, warmth, and genuine care.
That's what Pennywood brings to every engagement: the technical expertise to make things run smoothly, the presence to keep audiences engaged, and the personal touch that makes each experience feel special rather than transactional.
What You Can Expect From This Blog

Speaking and Communication: Lessons from the stage (and screen) about connecting with audiences, crafting compelling messages, and presenting with confidence—whether you're speaking to 10 people or 1,000.
Wedding and Ceremony Reflections: Thoughts on creating personalized, inclusive ceremonies that truly reflect couples' values and love stories. Ideas for making your big day authentically yours.
Behind the Scenes: Real stories from events we've hosted, lessons learned from both smooth successes and unexpected challenges, and the human side of event management.
A Few Things We Believe
Before we dive into future posts, we want to share some core beliefs that guide our work:
Technology should enhance human connection, not replace it. Virtual events can be just as meaningful as in-person ones when handled with intention and care.
Every detail matters. From how you pronounce someone's name to the timing of a breakout room transition, small things create big impressions.
Authenticity beats perfection. People connect with real, warm, genuine presence—not robotic professionalism.
Your story deserves to be told well. Whether it's your company's mission, your personal journey, or your relationship with your partner, the way you share that story matters.
